Spring Wildflower Maternity Session

Sara and Robert’s maternity session this spring reminded me why I love spring photo sessions. A highlight was when we were walking up the hill to our final location and discovered the hillside was covered in blooming lupines.

The weather is finally warming up, blooms are budding and the ground is taking life again. Spring is a beautiful time for family photos and my favorite season in Boise. But perhaps one of your first questions is, “What should we wear?”

Spring Family Photoshoot // Jared Family

Spring in Boise is one of my favorite times for family photos because everything is so beautiful, lush, and green. However, green grasses and trees sometimes pose a problem for beautiful portrait photos because it can cause a green color cast on the subject’s skin, causing issues for perfect skin tones.

How to Photograph Under Cloudy Skies

At the beginning of the summer here in Idaho we had a few days that were very cloudy. Often as photographers, we can get caught up in wanting the famed golden hour light, and so clouds in the forecast can be a bit of a downer. Boise Maternity Session // Amanda and Ryan

First off, let me just say that Amanda is such a trooper because I had her hiking all over the foothills for this shoot. I told her my vision for getting some golden hour shots up on the hills at Camel’s Back Park in Boise, but the catch was that she would have to hike up some pretty steep terrain, pregnant, AND in a dress. She shrugged it off and said she was up for the challenge.
