Newborn Photography
Why Newborn Photography?
Newborn babies grow and change SO FAST! Add in the sleepless nights that often come with a newborn, and the memory of your baby’s newborn features can disappear in a sleep deprived haze. That’s where I come in! As your photographer, my job isn’t just to take pictures. Rather it is to capture a moment, an emotion, a feeling, a look, a memory, and freeze it for all of time.
Now I get it. Professional photos can come with a big price tag. My hope as your photographer is that you will not just see the price tag, but see this as an investment in keeping memories alive; an investment in capturing your legacy.
What is Lifestyle Newborn Photography?
You may have seen newborn photography where the baby is posed nakey in a bowl or basket, but that isn’t the style of newborn photography that I do. I do in home lifestyle newborn photography. I don't typically use props (other than typical baby wear like swaddles/blankets and hats/headbands). I come to you and capture your growing family in the comfort of your own home. I typically take some photos of baby alone, lying on the bed, blanket or in the crib, as well as with mom, dad and any siblings. Baby can be swaddled or in a simple outfit and baby can be asleep or awake. I find the best time for newborn photos is from about 7-14 days after baby's birthdate.
What if I don’t want pictures in my home?
I have worked in many different homes, some with beautiful decor and natural light, and others with not a lot of natural light and very simple interior decor. I am able to work with a lot of different environments, but that being said I understand not wanting the added pressure of having someone come into your home (especially after having a baby) and making sure it is “photo worthy”. If the idea of taking the pics in your home sounds stressful or just not your thing, I do offer a studio option. Please note that you are interested in the studio option on your inquiry form. You can view an example studio session here.
Why I want to be your Photographer from Bump to Baby
Capturing newborn and maternity photos is one of my biggest passions because it is the stage of life that I myself am currently in. I have 3 kids, 3 and under! I’ve witnessed firsthand how fast babies grow and change and know personally how much of a treasure having photographs of their littles details can be.
So whether you are pregnant, or you just had a baby, I would love to help you capture these precious memories! Don’t hesitate to reach out!
